Chamber Business Plan

COMMITTEES / TASK FORCES

COMMUNITY PROMOTION & QUALITY OF LIFE

7th Avenue Enhancement / Denise Rockers, Chair; Linda Foltz, Cameron Colvard, Mike Todd, Brett Kappelmann
  Work with property owners, businesses, and city to develop plan to enhance and improve the aesthetics and economic stability of 7th Avenue.
   
Welcome Program / OPEN Chair
  The Chamber will continue to grow this program to welcome new residents to Augusta, giving member businesses the opportunity to get their business name in front of potential new clients.
   
Frisco Depot
  The Chamber, along with City and DAI will develop plan for depot renovation, roof restoration and complete applications for historical designation and historic preservation grant.
   
Civic Center - Eric Grooms, Chairman
  The Chamber will continue to work with the City of Augusta and other area organizations to explore avenues for building or acquiring a community facility that could be used by local citizens for gatherings and recreation.
   
Augusta Homecoming Fest / Erica Jones & Cherie Headley, Co-Chairs
  The Augusta Homecoming Fest is a weeklong celebration in conjunction with the Augusta High School Fall Homecoming. This is the Chambers largest source of revenue and an event that adds to the quality of life of our community.
   
Christmas Parade / Connie Thurman, Ambassador
  Held the first Saturday of December, the Chamber Ambassadors sponsor the Christmas Parade. To the fullest extent possible, the Chamber will seek the involvement of area individuals, religious and civic organizations, businesses and others.
   
Holiday Home Tour / OPEN Chair
  Held the first Sunday of December, the Chamber sponsors this afternoon event as a fundraiser and along with the Christmas Parade is a great way to kick off the Holiday season.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Vision Augusta
  The Chamber maintains a leading role and has adopted Vision strategies that can be incorporated into the Chamber's Program of Work.  By forming strategic alliances with other organizations the Chamber seeks to develop and implement Vision Augusta goals.
   
Augusta Progress Inc. Trent Schell, Chairman
  In a supportive partnership role with City of Augusta, Downtown Augusta, Inc. and Augusta Progress Inc., the Chamber will work to formulate incentives and to selectively recruit new business and industry to our community and address issues key to future development.

LEGISLATIVE ISSUES / Kevin Unrein, Dr. Scott Sullivan, & Jeremiah Zweifel
To address issues vital to the growth and prosperity of business in the Augusta Community.

MEMBERSHIP SERVICES
Business Recognition / Sharon Sudduth
• “Around the Town” column – The Chamber will continue to publish this column in the newsletter and Gazette Chamber page where we recognize professional achievement, new products & services, and other newsworthy items.
• Ribbon Cuttings – The Chamber will continue to hold ribbon cuttings for new businesses and their pictures and information will be published in the newsletter, the Gazette Chamber page and on the website.

Communications / Sharon Sudduth
• The Chamber will continue to communicate business news and community events through the publication of its newsletter, brochure and business directory, and web site; and will expand communications through fax and email groups, other mailings.

Networking
Provide opportunities for members to get together and get acquainted through:
• Business After Hours & Chamber Coffees
• Quarterly Membership Luncheons
• Annual Dinner
