We can’t hide the opportunity for fun in Augusta!
Whether you are a history buff or prefer a little
action it’s all here. Spend a day in Augusta and
you’ll discover:
HISTORY ABOUNDS
Augusta’s very roots can be envisioned with a visit
to the C.N. James Log Cabin. Built just after the
Civil War of hand-hewn cottonwood logs, the
cabin housed the city’s first school, post office
and general store. The cabin is one of only two
pioneer houses in the state of Kansas still on its
original site. A building adjacent to the cabin
houses the Augusta Historical Museum with
numerous collections showcasing Augusta’s pioneer
beginnings, the arrival of the railroad, and it’s
place in the oil boom.

Experience a current movie
or live performance at the Augusta Historic Theatre. This
centerpiece was the first movie house in America to
be lit entirely by neon and it remains rich with
nostalgia and Art Deco grandeur.
Aviation and WWII buffs will find much to explore
amid more than 10,000 artifacts contained in the
Kansas Museum of
Military History. Boasting more than 10,000
artifacts from full-size military vehicles, uniforms
and
more.
